Taiwan Day 29

Date:18/07/12
Venue:绿岛Green Island
Woke up 5am, because of the two that drunk, *is hard for them to wake up that early...
we started our 2nd day schedule at 6.30am...
Breakfast in Family mart*we can't find the person incharge at the counter because is too early to claim our breakfast..
Plan today is to stop by every tourist spot as in the brochure..
1st station is the Jail... Green island Jail..
2nd station is the Memorial of the Human rights(Cultural Parks)人权文化纪念碑
Passing by the Light house and the airport of Green Island...
as we can see the whole design is basically based on a mother's tears when her children were sent to this island.. because she don't know when they can meet each other again.. Once you get into this island, you only have a small chance to get out from here...
ouya, little history information on this island...
"The island was originally inhabited by the Ami Taiwanese aborigines, who called it Sanasai. It was called "Fire-Burned Island (火燒島, Huǒshāo Dǎo, or 火燒嶼, Huoshao Yu) before renamed to Green Island on August 1, 1949 by Huang Shih-hung (黃式鴻), the magistrate of Taitung at the time, who thought that the former name was unrefined.
The island is primarily noted as the place of past and current prisons and penal colonies. Green Island first served as an isolated spot and place of exile for political prisoners during the martial law period of Taiwanese history during Kuomintang single-party rule (especially during the White Terror). After their release, many of the prisoners jailed between the late 1940s and the late 1980s went on to establish the Democratic Progressive Party.he place where most of the political prisoners (such as Shih Ming-teh) were held was the Green Island Lodge (Lǜ Dǎo Shānzhuāng), where conditions were reported to be very bad. Oasis Village was the main penal colony. The prison was later closed, its interior is now opened to the public for visit.
The Green Island Prison (Lǜ Jiānyú) is also located on the island and has housed some prisoners that have been perceived to be amongst Taiwan's most dangerous criminals and gangsters. However, this has changed in recent years."

3rd station, we went to the old hospital, where is build after the political prisoners being released..
as you can see the registration counter of the hospital....
rooftop of the hospital...
After walking around the hospital.. which the atmosphere is a bit scary... then i stopped by a path where I walk straight and I just saw a museum... well, the museum is actually a wax work museum, where part of it there are wax models of the prisoners and show the citizens the exact situation in the prison room... again, I was alone *I don't know where are the 4 people.., the wax models are so scary.. LOL, I just observe them from the entrance and didn't step in for a closer look~
papers for you to write down your wishes/ comments and etc
situation where the prisoners listened to political lessons(I guess is some sort of brainwashing lessons?)
explanations shows that the prisoners only have 2 hours of personal time which they can do their own thing*like writing letters, playing games, reading and etc... and they have to squeeze in a small room .. so, basically they have no privacy at all...
exhibition hall show pictures on the situation that time...
The prisoners that passed away...
diaries that the prisoners wrote..
Beside the wax work museum, there is another museum nearby*roughly 200 m away..
The museum is about the whole map/overview of green Island...  Information on when the prisons build, why does it name as fired-burned island, videos/animations on the situation and some interview section with  the survivors...
the oath before you leave the island/prison..
you can write down your comments/wishes... =)
Because of we're too early, the jail haven't open yet.. so, we decided to come to visit the 2moro...
3rd station, swallow cave... I am glad that I wore long pants and together with my hoodies+umbrella.. The weather is SUPER HOT...
On the way to the cave..
awwww, SWEEETTT.. My dearest son and daughter... =) *envy...
Going to reach the cave soon and my right hand side is actually the graveyard  of the prisoners/trainers
The way is hard to walk actually with my slippers.. LOL
this is the swallow cave without swallow*I can't see any of it... maybe is not the season?
the view from the cave...
After that we stopped by at the 4th station-Guanying cave.. to have our lunch before to the coral house... and the weather is damn hot.. Must emphasize the hot weather few times in my blog here...
What Guanying cave is? the cave with limestones formed by the erosion of underground water... and obviously, temple for Buddist to pray as well..

the GuanYin cave..
5th station is heading to the coral house.. but the coral houses is at the Youzihu 柚子湖.... the ancient village with coral reef-made houses left... We tried to hide our scooter under the shade.. even the road sign can be our shade as well..hahhaha...
the view opposite the village...
I was expecting more on the coral houses.. I admit this is a little bit of disappointed.. =(
Rocks on the roof..
6th station is on the platform where we can see the Pekingnese Dog and Sleeping Beauty Rocks
and Vagiz got a shot on the GOATS which is very far away from the platform... The scenery is so beautiful up here...The water is the greenish blue as in tarako national park.. it is so so NICE...
sweat making the hair so messy.. ARGH....
I really frustrated when try to take photo up here... the backgroundlight is too strong making the people in the photo is too dark to be seen...
dog shape rock.. Can you see that? =)
7th station on ZiPing 紫坪... where supposingly you can see few sp of the hermit crabs here.. BUT THE WEATHER IS TOOOOO HOT... even the sea water is WARM = =.. So, the cabbie better hide inside their holes than come outside...
After ZiPing, wynlim suggested to go to the Handmade Icecream shop... I had my most secure combination- chocolate and Milk... Nick's champagne ice cream tasted not bad...
ZiPing is the last station... SINCE THE WEATHER IS EXTREMELY HOT ~ So, we decided to go back to the hostel and have our nice nap first before visiting the light tower in the evening before the sunset..
around 5.30pm, we had our dinner, *the black pepper chicken rice not good as well..  we immediately rushed to the light house but too bad there were too many cloud*i predict will be rain soon.. so, we can't see the sunset.. But the tone color of the sky very nice...
Since the suggested to round the island again during the night, I ma just too lazy to follow.. 1stly because of it gonna rain soon, and 2nd is because of I can't see clearly during the night.. so, decided to walk around the shop alone... so that i can buy some souvenir as well.. This is the time where i can slowly enjoy my sweet moment to look at each and every shop in detail.. =)
theme of this shop, obviously jail... =)
bambi deer =)
staircase with shell..
Few souvenir shop with unique decorations.. and the things sell is nice as well..
Then the son and the daughter come to find me.. since the son can't see clearly during the night as well, so they din follow the 2 crazy one to go around the island.. LOL... and at around 8pm, we continue the schedule as the trainer lead us to the mountain to see the bambi deers and an insect called Tsuda Phasmid..
After the animal watching.. The most exciting thing is he lead us to a wider area to have star watching.. THAT:S IS THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER I DONE IN GREEN ISLAND... 1st time ever saw my horoscope stars on the sky, cancer...
Star view makes me so impress.. I wish i could keep that moment forever... stars.. stars..

p/s: 2moro not going to the hot spring for the sun rise.. *heard that the hot spring is one of the three salt water hot spring in the world.. hmm.. I am just too tired to wake up that early....
